My name is Imani and I am a photographer. I mainly create portraits that explore complex concepts relating to being Black in America. I investigate the psychological, social, and historic implications of “blackness” and focus on highlighting moments of struggle, resilience, creativity, and joy within the black community in my work. My process is planning heavy as I am intentional with the elements and imagery I chose to include within my work. I aim to create authentic, provocative photographs that encourage reflection and conversation among viewers.
